Will ‘Running Man’ win best program on SBS Entertainment Awards?

Running Man recently spiked in votes as the best TV program for the 2011 SBS Entertainment Awards, drawing attention from viewers and netizens alike.

On December 15th, SBS opened the polls for the ‘SBS Entertainment Awards’ show on their homepage. ‘Running Man’–a SBS fan favorite and an influential candidate–was listed as one of the 15 different shows competing under the category of best TV program.

According to AGB Nielson Media Research, ‘Running Man’ held a record audience high of 17.7% on their December 25th broadcast. Since their first broadcast a year and a half ago, ‘Running Man’ has held a steady audience. However, the show has seen much progression and growth in comparison to their first episode thanks to their continuous format change.

Although the concept behind ‘Running Man’ is a simple game of hide-and-seek, the show has recreated the game by adding their own interesting elements and using influences from Blockbuster movies. In particular, the latest episode received much favorable criticism for its entertaining use of movie influences and twists.

While ‘Running Man’ has gained much national popularity, the show boasts a large international fan base as well. In their Hong Kong special aired several weeks ago, hoards of international fans warmly greeted the cast members during their visit. In past episodes, ‘Running Man’ has also visited Taiwan, Thailand, China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Cambodia.

In addition, ‘Running Man’ is currently in the lead in viewership and is surviving the fierce battle between various variety shows.

Combine all these factors together and it appears as if ‘Running Man’ has a very likely chance of nabbing the best TV program award. Who do you want to see win this award? Make sure you cast your vote before the polls close on December 29th!
